I received a message today (at www.divatology.com) on my post about Sophie Lancaster from a parent of a 12 year old girl in Blackburn who was attacked for being an emo.

My heart goes out to Sophie's parents. My twelve year old girl was attacked in Blackburn by a group of eleven this weekend for dressing like an emo. What kind of children are we breeding that think that it is acceptable behaviour to physically attack someone because of their clothes. As a lasting memorial to Sophie the police and the courts should be adopting a zero tolerance policy, but I doubt that the three that were arrested over my daughter will receive more than a slap on the wrist.

I sent them a link to you here as well as to the National Deneke Memorial and S.O.P.H.I.E. pages. I have not validated the story myself, but I did want to forward it to the people who care and track such stories.
